President's Day/AGM. Royal Liverpool GC, Hoylake. Arr: Peter Heath

34 couples competed in the annual President's Day at Royal Liverpool Golf Club for the John Behrend Shields.
The Society was extremely fortunate to play the Hoylake course in Open Championship year, and we were graced with sunny weather and a little breeze which made for an exacting test of our golfing skills. The secret was to stay out of the bunkers and not to three-putt. All agreed that the course is shaping up well for a certain "four round medal" in July.
The winners were BGCS President, John Beharrell, and American member, Don Wilson III, with 36 points. David Kirkwood and American John Crow Miller were runners-up with 35 points and Gillian Kirkwood and Tony Norcott took third place with 34 points.
Over 90 people attended the AGM and dinner after the golf. Alan Jackson retired as Captain and John Hanna from Northern Ireland took over the reins.
The usual auction after dinner was disappointing, with 59 lots raising less than £1600.
